A huge thank you to everyone who assisted with our Advent and Christmas liturgies. A very blessed Christmas to all of you and your loved ones. Thank you to our Worship Committee, and the Art & Environment ministry, headed up by Marla Brown, for your wonderful work for Thanksgiving, Advent and Christmas. Also, thank you to all our music ministers and choirs. Your music and song lifted all our hearts most fittingly to God. Thank you to our Ushers and Greeters, Lectors, Eucharistic Ministers and Altar Servers for your fine service to the parish as always. I’m also very grateful to our parish staff for their dedicated service and going above and beyond, especially during these high holy days of the year.

Anthony “Tony” DiCarlo, 98, of New Castle passed away the morning of December 18, 2021 at UPMC Jameson. Born on August 5, 1923 in New Castle, Tony was the son of the late Domenick and Josephine DiVincentis DiCarlo. On November 16, 1946, Tony married his beloved wife, the former Ann M. Rossi. She preceded him in death on May 10, 2014.

Lilliann (LuAnn) Assid, 76, of New Castle passed away the afternoon of December 17, 2021 at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Youngstown, OH with her husband by her side. Born on April 23, 1945, she was the daughter of the late Bruno Romeo and Rose (Latina) Romeo.

Lee M. Vernino, Jr., 58, of New Castle passed away the morning of December 16, 2021 at UPMC Jameson. Born on May 20, 1963 in New Castle, Lee was the son of the late Lee M. Vernino, Sr. and Lillian M. (Hardsock) Vernino.

Victor L. Balogh, 63, of Hoover Road, New Castle, passed away the evening of Dec. 15, 2021, at UPMC Jameson Hospital. Victor was born on Feb. 24, 1958, in Youngstown, Ohio. He was the son of the late Thomas and Ann (Carrocce) Balogh. He moved to New Castle in 1989.

James E. Cardella Sr., 81, passed away Dec. 10, 2021, at UPMC Jameson Hospital, New Castle. He was born Nov. 10, 1940, to Frank A. and Mary D. (Kovach) Cardella. On Feb. 25, 1967, James married Alice (Fleeger) Cardella. She preceded him in death on July 21, 2011.

Welcome to Fr. Rick Thompson. He is a retired priest of the Diocese of Pittsburgh living at the retreat center in what was the Girl Scout Camp Elliott in Volant. It is now called Our Lady of Mt. Carmel and there is a youth ministry retreat center there known as Dry Bones Ministry. Fr. Joe Freedy is part of that organization.

Martha Viola “Vi” Gittings DiCarlo, 87, of Enon Valley, formerly of New Castle, passed away Monday evening, December 13, 2021, in Franciscan Manor. Mrs. DiCarlo was born March 30, 1934, in New Castle, a daughter of Reginald and Martha (Howard) Gittings. Her husband of 55 years, John DiCarlo, whom she married June 12, 1954, preceded her in death January 28, 2010.

Carmela Oliva, 84, of New Castle, went home to be with the Lord while surrounded by her family the evening of December 13, 2021. Carmela was born on August 22, 1937 in Italy. She was the daughter of the late Carmen and Almerinda Zeppetella Antuono.

Mary M. Perrotta, age 85, formerly of New Castle, more recently of Port St. Lucie, FL., passed away the evening of Dec. 4, 2021, at Treasure Coast Hospice in Fort Pierce, FL. Born March 25, 1936, in New Castle, she was the daughter of the late Michael and Anna (Panella) Perretta. On Sept. 8, 1956, she married her beloved husband of 60 years, Nick P. Perrotta. He preceded her in death on June 24, 2017.

Donna May King, 79, was born on May 11, 1942 in New Castle, the daughter of the late Hosea and Charlotte Marie (Simeone) Cratty. Donna was married to her beloved husband, Robert King. He preceded her in death in 1997.

Agnes A. Masucci, 80, formerly of New Castle, passed away the afternoon of December 11, 2021 in Monroe, North Carolina. Agnes was born on July 16, 1941 in New Castle to the late Michael C. and Philomena “Fannie” Manto Rozak. Agnes was married to her beloved husband, Frank J. Masucci, Jr. He preceded her in death on March 17, 2020.

Mark E. Boyd, 66, passed away the afternoon of December 10, 2021 at Quality of Life Services.

Eric Torgersen, Sr. 73, of Shenango Township, passed away on December 10, 2021 at his residence. Born in Utica, NY on August 22, 1948, Eric was the son of the late Arnt O. and Mary E. Vail Torgersen. Surviving at home is his loving and devoted wife of over forty eight years, the former Arlene Zientara.

Mary E. Mangino, 90, of Neshannock Township passed away the morning of December 10, 2021 at Avalon Nursing Home. Born on November 19, 1931 in New Castle, she was the daughter of the late Danoto and Geraldine Parks Fiorilli. Mary is survived by her husband, Joseph Mangino, Jr., whom she married on July 26, 1952.

Stella Mae Sniezek, 94, of New Castle, Pennsylvania, passed away on the evening of Dec. 9, 2021, at Quality Life Services. Stella was born Dec. 14, 1926, in Wampum. She was the daughter of the late Joseph and Stella (Modliszewski) Zak. Stella was married to the late Joseph A. Sniezek. He preceded her in death on Feb. 25, 2018. They were married for 62 years.

Augustine Faella, Jr. 92, of Neshannock Township, passed away the evening of December 9, 2021 at UPMC Jameson Care Center. Born in New Castle on September 14, 1929, Augie was the son of the late Augustine and Edith Fabian Faella.

Sharon Trimble, 66, of Neshannock Township passed away with her husband by her side Monday, December 6, 2021. Mrs. Trimble was born July 25, 1955 in New Castle, the daughter of the late Alfred and Marlene (Pardick) Giancotti.

Sara A. Perrotta, 74, of New Castle passed away the morning of December 8, 2021 at UPMC Jameson. Born on February 18, 1947 in New Castle, Sara was was the daughter of the late Joseph and Antoinette (Capasso) Spinelli. Sara is survived by her beloved husband, Samuel Perrotta, who she married on September 5, 1970.

Patricia Marrangoni, 74, formerly Patricia Pandos, of New Castle died peacefully on Tuesday, December 7, 2021.
