Wanda S. Gurgacz, 93, of New Castle, Pennsylvania, passed away the afternoon of Sept. 15, 2022, at Quality Life Services. She was born on May 2, 1929, in New Castle to the late Stanley and Julia Sharek. Mrs. Gurgacz was married to the late John Gurgacz, who preceded her in death in 2008. They were married for 58 years.
Following high school graduation, she was employed as a secretary to the president of Dollar Savings Bank. Wanda enjoyed gardening and cooking Polish foods with her husband. She also enjoyed traveling, especially to the Poconos.
Mrs. Gurgacz is survived by her grandson, Matthew Jacob.
In addition to her parents and husband, Wanda was preceded in death by her daughter, Cindy Jacob; son-in-law, Hubert Jacob; and brother, Stanley Sharek.
Calling hours will be held from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. Monday, Sept. 19, 2022, at the Noga Funeral Home Inc., 1142 S. Mill St., New Castle. A Blessing Service will be held directly following the visitation at 7:00 p.m. Deacon John Carran of Holy Spirit Parish will officiate. Burial will be at SS Philip and James Cemetery.
Eternal rest grant unto Wanda, O Lord. Let perpetual light shine upon her. May her soul, and the souls of all the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace. Amen.
