Viola Goclano, 103, of Neshannock Township passed away the afternoon of June 8, 2023 at her residence. Born on September 17, 1919 in Cleveland, Ohio, Viola was the daughter of the late Albert and Agnes DiCola Gesue. Viola is survived by her beloved husband, Joseph Goclano, whom she married on May 8, 1948. The two celebrated their 75th wedding anniversary last month on May 8th.
During World War II, Viola worked at Johnson Bronze as part of the war effort. She was a member of Holy Spirit Parish, St. Vitus site. Viola loved celebrating and entertaining with family and friends. Her Christmas Eve dinners were legendary. The tradition of family events meant everything to Viola.
In addition to her husband, Viola is survived by her son, Richard Goclano and his wife, Catherine, of Pittsburgh, Pa.; two grandchildren, Erin Carlin Jackson (Jim), Brooke Carlin Napolitano (Neil); and four great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, Viola was preceded in death by her daughter, Beverly Goclano Grotefend; her sister, Pearl Pagley; and two brothers, Emil Gesue and James Gesue.
Visitation was Thursday 11:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the Ed & Don DeCarbo Funeral Home & Crematory, 3000 Wilmington Road. A Blessing Service was held at the funeral home at 2:00 p.m. Deacon John Carran of Holy Spirit Parish officiated. Entombment was in Parkside Mausoleum.
Eternal rest grant unto Viola, O Lord. Let perpetual light shine upon her. May her soul, and the souls of all the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace. Amen.
