Victoria A. Mrozek, 98, of New Castle passed away the afternoon of April 27, 2020, at Avalon Place. Victoria was born on July 11, 1921, in New Castle, a daughter of the late Stanley and Agnes F. (Lasota) Pierog Sr. She was married to the late Walter Mrozek Sr. He preceded her in death in 1968. They were married for 27 years.
Mrs. Mrozek was of the Roman Catholic faith and a member of Holy Spirit Parish, St. Anthony site in Bessemer. Victoria was a graduate of North Beaver Township School System, class of 1939. She will be remembered by her family as a loving mother and grandmother.
Victoria worked in the cafeteria at the former St. Francis Hospital for 27 years. She enjoyed listening to polka music. Her greatest joy was spending time with her family and friends, especially her grandchildren.
Victoria is survived by her children, Rose Marie Tammaro and Walter (Dorothy) Mrozek, both of New Castle, and Kathleen (Raymond) Akstulewicz of Bessemer; three grandchildren, Todd (Tammy) Mrozek of Bloomsburg, Pennsylvania, Mark Mrozek of New Castle and Amy Isaac (Aaron Bott) of Pittsburgh; two great-grandchildren, Zach and Megan Mrozek; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, Walter, Victoria was preceded in death by her sister, Jennie Wilk; her brothers, Brownie Pierog and Stanly Pierog; granddaughter, Vickey Lynn Tammaro; and son-in-law, Ralph Tammaro.
There will be no calling hours due to the COVID-19 pandemic. A private service will be held at the Noga Funeral Home Inc., 1142 S. Mill St., New Castle.
The Rev. Joseph McCaffrey, pastor of Holy Spirit Parish, St. Anthony's site, will officiate. Burial will be in SS Philip and James Cemetery. Arrangements were entrusted to the Noga Funeral Home Inc.
