Thomas A. Fontana, Jr., 57, of New Castle passed away the afternoon of May 31, 2023 at UPMC Presbyterian Hospital in Pittsburgh. Born on January 26, 1966 in New Castle, Tom was the son of the late Thomas A. Fontana, Sr. and Bonnie L. Davis Fontana.
A member of Holy Spirit Parish, St. Vitus site, Tom was passionate about Bible Study gatherings and attending spiritual Christian concerts. He also had a great love for sports, especially the Pittsburgh Pirates, New York Jets and the Philadelphia 76’ers. Tom was fortunate to meet many athletes over the years including his idol, Joe Namath. He loved the Glory Days of growing up on the South Side of New Castle and sharing memories with friends from the Fifth Ward Yankees. He was a friend to many and would help anybody in need without question. He will be missed by all.
Tom is survived by his two sisters, Tracy Hall (George) and Melinda Grant (Gregory), all of New Castle, and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be on Monday 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at the Ed & Don DeCarbo Funeral Home & Crematory, 941 S. Mill St. A Blessing Service will follow at 6:00 p.m. Seminarian Dan Roberts of Holy Spirit Parish will officiate. Entombment will be in Parkside Mausoleum.
Eternal rest grant unto Tom, O Lord. Let perpetual light shine upon him. May his soul, and the souls of all the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace. Amen.
