Therese Mooney Spencer began a new journey when she crossed over to the waiting hand of God on January 13, 2021. A loving wife, mother, and grandmother she literally lived for her family. She was the glue of the Spencer household.
Therese grew up in Queens, New York. Although times were tough during the depression, this is when and where her remarkable life began. She met and married the love of her life, Walter. A perfect match, they grew together and supported each other. They sent into this world five-children: Kevin (Rosemarie), Marian (Richard), Nancy, Brian (Ron) and Jean Ellen (Joseph). Their world continued to grow with the birth of 8-grandchildren: Lindsey, Zach, Tim, and Jack Spencer; Adam, Jamie, and Cal Beskosty; and Sean D’Allura. As any grandparent would tell you, they were all loved and cherished beyond measure.
In retirement, Therese and Walter moved to New Castle, PA. They were not only thrilled to settle in their final niche, but one that reminded them of their 1930’s stomping grounds, Queens, NY. They absolutely loved WPA! They grew many friendships amongst neighbors, doctor offices, store employees, and goodness, the many wonderful delivery and service folks. Mom would always say, you can never have enough Dunkin Donut gift cards on hand. So, for one last time, from Mom to all of you, “Have a jolly day”! And no kidding, she means it!
A Memorial Service will be held at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to the Lawrence County Humane Society. Arrangements are being handled by the R. Cunningham Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc.
