Stella Mae Sniezek, 94, of New Castle, Pennsylvania, passed away on the evening of Dec. 9, 2021, at Quality Life Services. Stella was born Dec. 14, 1926, in Wampum. She was the daughter of the late Joseph and Stella (Modliszewski) Zak. Stella was married to the late Joseph A. Sniezek. He preceded her in death on Feb. 25, 2018. They were married for 62 years.
Stella was a graduate of Shenango High School. She was of the Roman Catholic faith and was a member of Holy Spirit Parish, St. Joseph the Worker site. Mrs. Sniezek worked for Shenango China before getting married and becoming a homemaker. She was a member of the Polish White Eagles, Chewton.
Her greatest joy was spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. She loved listening to polka music, as it always made her feel like dancing, which was one of her favorite activities as a young adult. An avid gardener, her ample plot each year provided wonderful dishes that the family enjoyed throughout the year.
Stella is survived by four children, Joseph (Linda) Sniezek, Endwell, New York; Frank (Susan) Sniezek, Moon Township, Pennsylvania; Andrew (Gabrielle) Sniezek, Hookstown, Pennsylvania; and Marsha Sniezek, New Castle; grandchildren Nicholas and Alexander Sniezek, Maryann Sniezek, Kristen (Jonathan) DiFiore and Adam Sniezek, Christopher and Joseph Luchs; and one great-grandchild, Emma DiFiore.
In addition to her parents and husband, Joseph, Stella was preceded in death by six brothers: Andrew, John, Albert, Joseph, Theodore and Edward Zak; five sisters: Mary Sokoloski, Sophie Zak, Josephine Zak, Wanda Ciszewski and Anastasia Groves; and one beloved grandson, Matthew Sniezek.
Calling hours for Stella will be from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm Tuesday, Dec. 14, at Noga Funeral Home, Inc., 1142 S. Mill St., New Castle, Pennsylvania. The family requests that face masks be worn at all times during visitation hours. A Mass of Christian burial will take place at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 15 at Holy Spirit Parish, St. Vitus Church. Father Joseph McCaffrey will officiate. Burial will take place at SS Philip and James Cemetery.
Eternal rest grant unto Stella, O Lord. Let perpetual light shine upon her. May her soul, and the souls of all the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace. Amen.
