Stella J. Presnar, 92, formerly of Grandview Avenue, Union Township, passed away the morning of April 12, 2020, at Rhodes Estates. Stella was born on Dec. 12, 1927, in New Castle. She was a daughter of the late Alojzy and Aniela Adamska Wojtowicz. She was married to the late Aloysius (Al) Presnar. He preceded her in death on Aug. 1, 2000. They were married for 51 years.
Mrs. Presnar was a graduate of Union High School, class of 1945. Stella continued her education at the former St. Francis School of Nursing, graduating in 1948.
She was Roman Catholic and was a member of Holy Spirit Parish, Mary Mother of Hope site. Mrs. Presnar retired after 41 years as a registered nurse in the emergency room of the former St. Francis Hospital. Stella participated in "Nurses Health Studies" from Harvard Medical School yearly.
She enjoyed many different crafts, including egg artistry and was a member of the Silver Sneakers at the YMCA. Stella enjoyed dancing, traveling and going to the casinos. Stella was the first head majorette at Union High School. Mrs. Presnar was a member and a Rosary maker with Our Lady's Rosary Maker's Society. Stella enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Stella is survived by two daughters, Miss Diane L. Presnar and Ms. Elaine P. Presnar, both of New Castle; a son, Randy P. (Lynn) Presnar of Edinburg; two grandchildren, Christopher (Heather) Presnar and Randilynn (Roydi) Suazo; and two great-grandchildren, Alexander Presnar and Melita Presnar.
In addition to her parents and husband, Al, Stella was preceded in death by infant son, John Presnar; three brothers, Casimir (George), Stanley (Peck), and Joseph (Toby) Wojtowicz; and a sister, Helen Weir.
There will be no public visitation at this time. A private service will be held for her immediate family this week. Burial will take place at Madonna Cemetery.
Arrangements were entrusted to the Noga Funeral Home Inc., 1142 S. Mill St., New Castle. In lieu of flowers, family requests memorial contributions be made to St. Vitus School, 915 S.
