Welcome to September, a month of great transition. We will begin our school year at Holy Spirit Academy on September 8th.Please keep our students, teachers and faculty in your prayers. A very grateful shout-out to all of you in our community and beyond who assisted in raising much-needed revenue for our school. As you can see from the thermometer report on our matching fund drive (Page 9), we have far exceeded our goal of $250,000. God has blessed us tremendously through the amazing generosity of many individuals and we are now at$ 298,574!!!!
Our blessings from God are not only counted in dollars but, more importantly, in individual lives. The amount of generosity provided by your time, talent and treasure is beyond quantification. Pictured here is the Breakfast Crew cooking for Feed My Sheep.A different Holy Spirit group prepares lunch for this local ministry the first Tuesday of each month. Sincere gratitude, also, to our many volunteers who have stepped forward, particularly new volunteers, willing to help us as we transition back into our church buildings.
On the weekend of September 12th, we will have two Saturday night Masses at 4:00 pm, one at St. Vitus and one at St. Camillus. We will fill the churches first to the appropriate number and then overflow will go into the respective gymnasiums. Space is very limited! Please be aware that there may not be enough room when you arrive. So understand that there will be two Sunday morning Masses at the Sears parking lot, at 9 o’clock and 11 o’clock.
Because we are having two Saturday night Masses in the church buildings and also having weddings and funerals on Saturdays, we will no longer have the 9:00 am live streamed Mass on Saturdays.Every day of the week except for Saturday, there will continue to be a 9:00 am live streamed Mass from St. Vitus. It is providing us with adequate room for those who have been attending in person.
Once again, thank you to everyone for your cooperation, understanding and selfless service to God and one another. Also happening this week, Monday is Labor Day and offices are closed, Tuesday is the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary and Friday is 9/11 Patriot Day.
Please join me in asking our Blessed Mother to help and protect our country during these difficult days.Remember how united we were when we were attacked on 9/11? What has happened that we are such a divided county today? It seems to me that there are many factors and reasons why, but perhaps the greatest reason is that it is an election year! Sometimes our worst enemies are not people but attitudes!
