Farewell. Fr. Brendan

Congratulations to Fr. Brendan on being named pastor after only three years as a carefree parochial vicar. (A year and a half of it was spent during the pandemic.) I am grateful for his cooperation, willingness to serve, and his non-stop Irish wit! At 6ft 6.6 inches tall, he stands head and shoulders above us all.
Fr. Brendan will certainly be missed. Perhaps none of you will miss him more than Fr. Ben and I. Not because of his humorous attacks, but mostly because we are now down to only two priests. Please be patient, as we will have to reconfigure our parish ministry if the Bishop does not assign another priest to Holy Spirit Parish.
This weekend you will have an opportunity to tell Fr. Brendan good-bye and wish him well. Please join us immediately after the 8:00 am Mass for a reception in the Holy Spirit parish Center, across N. Beaver Steet from St. Mary Church. The reception will run from 9:00 am to 11:00 am.

Bishop William Waltersheid, who will also celebrate the closing Mass. Doors open at 11:30 am, Adoration begins at 12:30 pm, the first speaker starts at 1:30 pm, and Mass begins at 4:30 pm. Next Sunday, September 11th, is the second annual Holy Spirit Parish Picnic. Now is the time for us to come together to encourage and support one another. Our Savior told us that perseverance is pleasing to the Lord and a mark of a true disciple. "Fear is useless, what is needed is trust" (Mk 5:36).
The Sunday 11:00 am Mass on September 11th will be celebrated in the Dance Pavilion at Cascade Park, opening the Parish Picnic. Due to the shortage of priests with Fr. Brendan’s departure, there will not be an 11:00 am Mass at St. Camillus on September 11th.
