Samuel John Marino lost his battle with kidney disease and diabetes on September 4, 2023 at home surrounded by his family. Sam was born in New Castle on March 20, 1946, the son of the late Angeline (Marso) Marino and Joseph Marino. He married his wife of 51 years, Christine L (Farone) Marino, on November 20, 1971.
Sam was a graduate of Shenango High School and a member of the United States Army. When Sam came home from the Army, he worked for the B&O /CSX Railroad for 40 yrs. He was passionate about being a Union leader and was the local chairman for #1374 UTU. He was also a field supervisor and training officer for the New Castle division.
Sam loved participating and helping the youth of Union Township and was one of the oldest Midget Football Coaches at Union. He was passionate about his community and served four years on the Union Area School Board.
His absolute love was his family. His wife, Christine and his two daughters Michelle (Mark) Morelli of New Castle and Colleen (Eric) Anthony of Allison Park. His greatest joy was his two granddaughters, Samantha Christine Morelli and Claire Carlin Anthony.
In addition to his wife, children and grandchildren, Sam is survived by his sister Suzanne Frabotta and brother Michael Marino; his mother-in-law, Rose Carlin and sister-in-law Diane (Wayne) Seamans; and brother-in-law Jim (Marcia) Farone along with the several nieces and nephews.
Family will receive friends on Sunday, September 10, 2023 from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. at the Ed & Don DeCarbo Funeral Home & Crematory, 941 S. Mill St. A Memorial Service will be on Sunday, September 10th at 3:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Rev. Richard Nero will officiate. Burial will be in Madonna Cemetery.
Eternal rest grant unto Sam, O Lord. Let perpetual light shine upon him. May his soul, and the souls of all the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace. Amen.
