Samuel G. Zingaro, 86, of New Castle passed away the afternoon of Nov. 7, 2019, at UPMC Jameson Hospital. He was a son of the late Gabriel and Josephine Carvella Zingaro. He was born on Jan. 3, 1933, in Baia e Latina, Italy, and came to America at age 3.
On July 11, 1953, Sam married his beloved wife of 66 years, the former Connie Conti. In the early years, Sam had worked for Zingaro Dairy and Service Station. He retired in 1993 from Conrail Railroad as an engineer and instructor. He was a member of Holy Spirit Parish, St. Joseph the Worker site. Sam was an avid golfer. A loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, he loved life and enjoyed spending time with all of his family.
In addition to his wife, Sam is survived by his children, Joella Kustra and her husband, Walter, Gabriella Budai and her husband, Jan, and Christina Neff and her husband, Robert, all of New Castle, and Samuel G. Zingaro of Chicago; his brother, Al Zingaro and his wife Janice, of Estero, Florida; two sisters, Louise Conti of Naples, Florida, and Yolanda Tanner and her husband, Harry Tanner Sr., of Wellington, Florida; four grandchildren, Kylie Carr, Walter Kustra Jr., Victor Kustra and Alex Evanoski; and two great-grandchildren, Jack Kustra and Kinsley Carr. In addition to his parents, Sam was preceded in death by his sisters, Ann M. Nickum and Helen Fisher.
Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday at the Ed and Don DeCarbo Funeral Home and Crematory, 941 S. Mill St. A procession will leave the funeral home at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday for a Mass of Christian burial at 10 a.m. at Holy Spirit Parish, St. Joseph the Worker Church. The Rev. Joseph McCaffrey, pastor of Holy Spirit Parish, will officiate. Entombment will be in Parkside Mausoleum.
