Sam. B. Biasucci, 87, of New Castle passed away the afternoon of January 11, 2021 at UPMC Jameson after a short battle with cancer. Born on September 21, 1933 in New Castle, he was the son of the late Sam and Anna Pagley Biasucci. On July 23, 1966 Sam married his beloved wife, the former Joan E. Skaneski. She survives at home.
Sam had proudly served his country as a member of the United States Army during the Korean War Era. Serving two years in active duty and four years in the Army Reserves. Sam was a Shenango Township resident and 1951 graduate of New Castle High School. He graduated Magna Cum Laude from Youngstown State University with Honors fifteen years after graduating from high school, attending night school for eight years while working to get a degree in business.
He spent thirty-five yeas in the banking industry and retired in 1998 with perfect attendance from First National Bank where he was Senior Vice President, cashier and secretary. Even when Sam was working, he was involved with the community in many different arenas. He had served on the boards of the United Way of Lawrence County for more than forty years, the Lawrence County Historical Society, Adult Literacy of Lawrence County, Lawrence County Learning Center and Lawrence County Economic Development Corporation, where he was president, and has been on the Shenango Area School District school board since 2000.
Sam gave his time and effort to his community, dedicated as a volunteer. He was a member of the Lawrence County Chamber of Commerce, the Americans for Competitive Enterprise System Inc. (ACES) for twenty years as Business Advisor at New Castle High School. When Sam was not serving the community or doing his volunteer work, he enjoyed going to football games and doing same day trips with his wife. A loving husband and father, Sam’s greatest joy was the time he spent with his family.
In addition to his wife, Sam is survived by his son, Sam E. Biasucci and his wife, Julie, of Sewickley, Pa., his brother, Joseph A. Biasucci and his wife, Joan. In addition to his parents, Sam was preceded in death by two brothers, Michael L. Biasucci, Sr. and Charles Biasucci and his sister, Maryann Davis.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Holy Spirit Parish, St. Vitus Church on Thursday for friends and family at 11:00 a.m. Father Joseph McCaffrey, Pastor will officiate. All who attend will be required to adhere to CDC guidelines regarding the wearing of masks and practicing social distancing. Burial will be in St. Vitus Cemetery.
