Salvatore (Sam) Canzano, 89, of Neshannock Township passed away the morning of September 13, 2022 at his residence with his loving family at his side. Born on November 26, 1932 in Statigliano, Caserta, Italy, Sam was the son of the late Giuseppe and Maria Castellano Canzano. Sam is survived by his beloved wife the former Giovannina (Jennie) Conte who he married on November 24, 1957 at St. Vitus Church in Baia e’ Latina, Italy.
Sam worked as a self-employed barber for sixty-three years. He was a member of Holy Spirit Parish, St. Vitus site. Sam had served in the Italian Army for two years before coming to America. He enjoyed winemaking, playing bocce and gardening. Sam was also very interested and talented in woodworking. A loving husband, father and grandfather, Sam’s greatest joy was the time he spent with his family.
In addition to his wife, Sam is survived by his children, Joseph Canzano (Bonnie) of New Castle, Rossana Ferrazzano (Mario) of Neshannock Township and Mary Lou Micco (Joseph) of Lebanon, PA, five grandchildren, Justin Ferrazzano, Dr. Matthew Micco, Gabrielle Micco, Riley Lennon and Christopher Lennon and numerous nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Sam was preceded in death by two brothers, Luigi and Domenico Canzano and three sisters, Antonietta Nocera, Nicolina Introwicz and Giuseppina Bottoni.
Visitation will be on Sunday, 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at the Ed & Don DeCarbo Funeral Home & Crematory, 3000 Wilmington Road. A procession will leave the funeral home on Monday at 10:15 a.m. for a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m. at Holy Spirit Parish, St. Vitus Church. Father Benjamin Barr will officiate. Entombment will be in Castle View Memorial Gardens.
Eternal rest grant unto Salvatore, O Lord. Let perpetual light shine upon him. May his soul, and the souls of all the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace. Amen.
