Robert Kenneth McCartt, age 74, of New Castle, passed away the evening of September 14, 2020, at his residence. Born December 26, 1945, in New Castle, he was the son of the late Kenneth C. and Roseltha (Hartsuff) McCartt.
Robert received his bachelor's degree at YSU and his master's degree at Robert Morris University. He worked as a professor at Slippery Rock University as well as a self-employed CPA. Robert enjoyed listening to oldies music, going to the beach, softball and taking walks. He loved telling jokes and laughing at them. What gave Robert the most joy in life, was spending time with his beloved grandchildren.
Robert was a member of New Castle Rotary Club and St. Camillus Church - Holy Spirit Parish.
Robert is survived by his wife, Cecilia (Denney) McCartt, of New Castle; two daughters, Valerie McCartt and her husband Lawrence Crowell of Camp Hill, Pennsylvania, and Erin McCartt of Rossford, Ohio; one son, Robert McCartt and his wife Melissa (Sprung) of Rossford, Ohio; one brother, Daniel (MaryAnne) McCartt of Woodway, Texas; one sister, Barbara McCann of Tampa, Florida; six grandchildren, Kayla Conrad, Quentin Shaffer, Margaret McCartt, Maison McCartt, Makenna McCartt and Cadence McCartt; and one great-grandchild, Jolie Conrad.
In addition to his parents, Robert is preceded in death by one brother, Phillip McCartt.
Visitation will be Friday Sept. 18, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the R. Cunningham Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc., 2429 Wilmington Road, New Castle. All visitors are asked to adhere to the CDC guidelines regarding wearing face masks and practicing social distancing. A funeral procession will leave the funeral home at 12:30 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 19, for a 1 p.m. Mass of Christian burial, celebrated by Fr. Anthony Sciarappa, at St. Camillus Church - Holy Spirit Parish, 314 W. Englewood Drive, New Castle. Burial will be at St. Mary's Cemetery.
