Robert E. "Bob" Romano, 84, of Hillsville, passed away suddenly at UPMC Jameson Hospital in New Castle on Feb. 2, 2021. Bob was born in New Castle on Jan. 10, 1937, to the late Anthony Sr. and Florence Robb Romano.
He grew up in the Bessemer/ Hillsville area and was a graduate of Bessemer High School, class of 54. Bob married the former Marcelline Shuluga on Feb. 23, 1957, and this month they would have celebrated 64 years together. Bob had retired from Cummins Diesel of Ohio, having worked there for 33 years.
He was a lifelong member of St. Lawrence Church, now Holy Spirit Parish and of the Mahoning Sportsman Association.Bob was a devoted family man and enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren.
He leaves behind his wife, Marcy, at home; children, Michelle (Edward) Benton of New Castle, Regina (Michael) Price of New Castle and Robert (Frances) Romano of Hillsville; a brother, David (Linda) Romano of Lowellville, Ohio; his grandchildren, Richard (Michelle) Romeo, Andrea Miles, Christopher Benton, Suzanne (Jon Proch) Benton, Kurt Kastner, Douglas Kastner, Sarah (Nathan) Witt, Scott (Searrah) Kastner, Megan Romano, Kara (Ronald) Swogger and Anthony (Nicole Ulrich) Romano; and his great-grandchildren, Rocco, Grace, Savanna, Marty and Bradley.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Anthony Romano Jr.; sister, Jane Pagnotta; son-in-law, Rocco A. Romeo; and his mother and father-in-law, John and Regina Shuluga.
Private services will be held at a later date. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Terry A. Cunningham Funeral Home in Bessemer.
