Robert Caparoula, 83, of New Castle passed away the morning of March 23, 2021 at his residence. Born on August 12, 1937 in New Castle, he was the son of the late William and Louise DePasquale Caparoula. On June 19, 1987 Bob married his beloved wife, the former Barbara Bridge. She preceded him in death on December 12, 2016.
Bob had worked as an electronic beam welder for United Technologies in Harford, Connecticut, until he retired. He had proudly served his country for twenty years as a member of the United States Air Force. Bob was a member of Holy Spirit Parish, St. Vitus Site. Bob was an avid golfer. He enjoyed doing crossword puzzles. A loving father, grandfather, and great-great grandfather Bob’s greatest joy was the time he spent with his family.
Bob is survived by his children, Robert Caparoula, Jr. (Linda) of Albuquerque, NM, Diane Sponsler of New Castle, Rosemarie LaPoint (Raymond) of Palm Dale, CA, two stepchildren, Charlotte D’Aleo (Angelo) of Windsor Locks, CT and Richard Adams (Cindy) of Enfield, CT, one brother, James Caparoula , two sisters Sylvia Peabody and Nora Robinson all of New Castle, nine grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents and wife, Bob was preceded in death by six sisters, Gilda Jackson, Phyllis Yeropoli, Theresa Suzow, Julia Schofield, Adeline Scully, and Mary Scully, two brothers John and Richard Caparoula.
The family will receive friends on Friday 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at the Ed & Don DeCarbo Funeral Home & Crematory, 941 South Mill St. The New Castle Area Honor Guard will conduct Military Rites at 11:30 a.m. at the funeral home. Visitors are required to adhere to CDC guidelines with the wearing of masks and practicing social distancing. A Blessing service will follow at 12:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Deacon John Carran of Holy Spirit Parish will officiate. Burial will be in Parkside Cemetery.
