Richard W. Hunt Sr., 84 of New Castle passed away the afternoon of December 11, 2019 at UPMC Jameson. Born on August 15, 1935 in Harlansburg, Pa., he was the son of the late Harold and Lucille Magee Hunt. On July 17, 1954, Richard married his beloved wife, the former Frances A. “Frenchie” Perrotta. She preceded him in death on April 25, 2014.
Richard had worked at Shenango China Pottery for thirty two years before he retired. Richard was a member of Holy Spirit Parish, St. Vincent de Paul site. He served his country for twenty-one years as a member of the United States Army National Guard. He was part of the New Castle 229th Field Artillery Battery Headquarters.
Richard is survived by his son, Richard W. Hunt Jr. of New Castle, and his sister, Jane McAnany, of New Castle. In addition to his parents and wife, Richard was preceded in death by three brothers, Glenn, Donald and Charles Hunt.
Visitation will be on Sunday 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the Ed & Don DeCarbo Funeral Home and Crematory, 941 South Mill St. A procession will leave the funeral home on Monday, Dec. 16, at 9:30 a.m. for a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. at Holy Spirit Parish, St. Vincent de Paul Church. Father Joseph McCaffrey, Pastor, will officiate. Burial will be in St. Lucy Cemetery.
