Richard Warren "Dickie" Clark, 82, of New Castle passed away the morning of April 4, 2022, at the Haven Convalescent Home. Dickie was born on May 4, 1939, in New Castle the son of the late Roy R. and Bessie V. (Hammaker) Clark, the youngest of nine children. He was a graduate of New Castle High School and went on to marry the late Priscilla M. Stalma. They were married just shy of 50 years before she preceded him in death on June 1, 2012.
On Oct. 13, 1958, at the age of 18, Dickie enlisted in the United States Army in New Castle. He continued on to earn the rank of Pvt/E-1 on Dec. 18, 1961. Richard also earned the titles of marksman with the M1 Rifle, and sharpshooter with the Carbine Rifle. He transferred to the United States Army Reserve on Feb. 6, 1962, and was honorably discharged on Oct. 12, 1964, at Indiantown Gap Military Reservation in Annville, Pennsylvania. Dickie retired from the Post Office after 30-plus years of service with United States Postal Service.
His greatest joy was spending time with friends and family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Richard is survived by three sisters, Arlene DeVite, Ella Mae Simmons and Shirley "Cookie" DeVite; three grandchildren, David J. Griffin, Autumn M. Griffin and Brooke C. Griffin; and 10 great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents and wife, Priscilla, Dickie was preceded in death by his three older brothers, Raymond Clark, Ralph Clark and Sam Clark; two sisters, Mary Barber and Charlotte Blake; his beloved daughter and only child, Regina M. Griffin; and a grandson who was his spitting image, Michael A. Griffin.
Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. to noon on Thursday, April 7, 2022, at the Noga Funeral Home, 1142 Mill St., New Castle. Prior to the Blessing Service, the New Castle Area Honor Guard will perform full Military Honors at the funeral home at 11:45 a.m. A Blessing service will be held following the military honors at the funeral home. Dr. Joseph Ross of Holy Spirit Parish will officiate. Burial will be in St. Vitus Cemetery, alongside his devoted wife.
Eternal rest grant unto Dickie, O Lord. Let perpetual light shine upon him. May his soul, and the souls of all the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace. Amen.
