Richard G. Ferrese, 74, of Union Township passed away the morning of November 14, 2020 at UPMC Presbyterian University Hospital in Pittsburgh, PA. Born on June 27, 1946 in New Castle, he was the son of the late Frank and Rose Conti Ferrese. On July 29, 1967 Richard married his beloved wife, the former Cynthia Marshall. She survives at home.
Richard worked as an electrician and was a member of IBEW Local #712 in Beaver Falls, PA until he retired ten years ago. Richard served his country as a member of United States Marine Corp. during the Vietnam Era. He was a member of Holy Spirit Parish, Mary Mother of Hope site, where he enjoyed helping to decorate his beautiful church for Christmas each year. Richard was an avid Pittsburgh Steeler fan. He was known as “Mr. fix it” as he was always ready, willing and able to help when anyone was in need. A loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, Richard’s greatest joy was the time he spent with his family.
In addition to his wife, Richard is survived by his daughter, Amy Booth, and her husband, William, his son Brian, and his wife, Liane, his grandchildren, Hannah Booth, Emily Booth, Santino Ferrese, Kayla Petronellis, brothers, Frank Ferrese, Jr. and wife Anita Conti Ferrese, Robert Ferrese and wife, Sandy Elias Ferrese, his brothers in law and their wives, Jack and Joanne Marshall, Greg and Sandy Marshall, two great-grandchildren, Liaunna Wilson and Carter Sharp, twelve nieces and nephews and four Godchildren.
In addition to his parents, Richard was preceded in death by his sister, Joan Peluso, his brother-in-law, Orlando Peluso, in-laws, Carmela Marshall and John Marshall, granddaughter, Angelica E. Booth, his nephew, Gregory Marshall, Jr. and his nephew and godchild, John Patrick Marshall.
Family will receive friends on Thursday 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. at the Ed & Don DeCarbo Funeral Home & Crematory, 941 South Mill St. Due to COVID-19, visitors are required to adhere to CDC guidelines regarding the wearing of face masks, the six- foot rule will be honored. For the safety of everyone, we politely ask that all visitors do not linger at the funeral home after paying your respects to the Ferrese family. Thank you for your understanding.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Holy Spirit Parish, St. Mary Church at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday. Father Nicholas Spirko will officiate. Entombment will be in Resurrection Mausoleum.
