Richard A. Nero, 59, formerly of New Castle, passed away on November 5, 2020 at his residence. Born on October 26, 1961 in New Castle, he was the son of the late Rudolph and Mona Thomas Nero. On October 24, 2010 Richard married his beloved wife, the former Melissa Cooper. She survives at home.
Richard had served his country as a member of the United States Army. He had worked as a health care counselor at the Youth Development Center. He then worked as a Registered Nurse until he retired. Richard enjoyed the outdoors fishing, gardening and going camping. He was an avid Pittsburgh Steeler fan. A loving husband, father, and grandfather, Richards greatest joy was the time he spent with his family.
In addition to his wife, Richard is survived by his children, Maria Nero, Rocco Nero, both of New Castle, his step children, Shannon Mayer of Palos, IL and Robert Mayer of Michigan City, IN, two brothers, James Nero (Michelle), R. Daniel Nero (Sharyn), one sister, Mildred Redmond and seven grandchildren, Kaden, Kelan, Alivia, Annabella, Mabel, Rocco, Jr. and Kacion and his former wife, Lisa Ryan.
In addition to his parents, Richard was preceded in death by one sister.
Visitation will be held on Sunday 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the Ed & Don DeCarbo Funeral Home & Crematory, 941 S. Mill St. Visitors are required to adhere to CDC guidelines regarding the wearing of face masks and practicing social distancing. A Service will be held at 4:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Seminarium Merv Knieriem of Holy Spirit Parish will officiate.
