Ralph F. Mercer, 78, of Hickory Township, passed away the evening of August 16, 2021, at Geauga Hospital in Chardon, OH. Born on August 20, 1942 in New Castle, he was the son of the late Ralph and Estelle Mercer.
Ralph was the owner of Mercer’s Cycle Shop for over 50 years and had been a BSA, Triumph, and Suzuki dealer for many of those years. He also owned R.F. Mercer Company which sold automotive parts and accessories. He was a trained electrician from Vo-Tech, a certified motorcycle mechanic and all-around handyman that could fix just about anything. Ralph loved the outdoors and nature and spending time cutting grass and making trails at his farm. He also enjoyed attending local car events and showing his classic cars and was a member of the Rapid Tappets car club for roughly 20 years.He was a member of the Catholic faith.
Ralph is survived by his children Julia Mercer-Wood and husband, Alan, with grandchildren Graycen and Alan R. of Auburn Twp., OH; Matthew Mercer with grandson, Michael, of Chagrin Falls, OH; Brian Mercer and wife, Stephanie, with grandchildren Paige and Brian Jr. of Boardman, OH; and by his sister, JoAnn Sizer, and husband, Robert Sizer, of Bessemer.
The family will receive friends on Friday, June 10th from 1:00-2:00 pm at Ed and Don DeCarbo Funeral Home and Crematory 941 S Mill Street. A Blessing Service will be held at 2:00 pm on Friday at the funeral home. Deacon John Carran of Holy Spirit Parish will officiate. Interment will take place in St. Philip and James Cemetery during a private ceremony.
Eternal rest grant unto Ralph, O Lord. Let perpetual light shine upon him. May his soul, and the souls of all the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace. Amen.
