Philip A. LaScola, Sr., 91 of New Castle, passed away the evening of February 25, 2022 at his residence. Born on August 13, 1930 in New Castle, Philip was the son of the late Paul J. and Rose M. Terreri LaScola. Philip is survived by his beloved wife of sixty-five years, the former Carole Saxton.
Philip had worked as an Electronic Technician for IBM for thirty-three years, until he retired as a District Manager. He had proudly served his country as a member of the United States Navy, serving during the Korean War Era on the USS Catalpa. Philip was an active member of Holy Spirit Parish, St. Joseph the Worker site where he served as a Eucharistic Minister and 7th Grade CCD Teacher.
In the early years, Philip was a Boy Scout Leader for Troop #50. He enjoyed doing carpentry work and building things and being in the outdoors doing his gardening. Philip was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles, Sons of Italy, and Knights of Columbus 512. A loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, Philip’s greatest joy was the time he spent with his family.
In addition to his wife, Philip is survived by his children, Terry LaScola (Diane), Philip A. Lascola, Jr. (Deborah) all of New Castle and Michael P. LaScola (Laurie) of Sigel, PA, one sister, Myla Minner of Johnstown, PA, seven grandchildren, Philip, Trishia (Randy), Terry (Stephanie), Adam, Jared, Michael (Kenzie), Dalis (Bobby), nine great-grandchildren, Taghan, Kaelyn, Trinity, Troy, Landon, Easton, Enzo, Brentley, Emilliana, a great great grandchild that is on the way, Paisley Lynn and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be on Tuesday 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at the Ed & Don DeCarbo Funeral Home & Crematory, 941 S. Mill St. The New Castle Area Honor Guard will perform Full Military Rites on Tuesday at 11:45 a.m. at the funeral home.A procession will leave the funeral home on Tuesday at 12:00 p.m. for a Mass of Christian Burial at 12:30 p.m. at Holy Spirit Parish, St. Vitus Church. Father Brendan Dawson will officiate.Burial will be in Parkside Cemetery.
Eternal rest grant unto Philip, O Lord. Let perpetual light shine upon him. May his soul, and the souls of all the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace. Amen.
