Peter J. Basile, Jr., 74, of Neshannock Township passed away on January 9, 2022 at UPMC Passavant Hospital surrounded by his loving family. Peter was born on February 16, 1947 in Springfield, Massachusetts, a son of the late Peter J. and Mary St. Peter Basile. On June 10, 1994, Peter married his beloved wife, the former Christine M. Flamino. She survives at home.
Peter had worked as the Vice President of Sales for Dubois Chemical Company. He had proudly served his country as a member of the United States Army. Peter was a member of Holy Spirit Parish, St. Camillus site.
Peter was an avid golfer. He enjoyed going to the shooting range. Peter was very proud of his Italian heritage. He loved to cook and enjoyed watching cooking shows to find new recipes. He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles and the Elks Lodge. One of Peter’s favorite- past times was sitting on his back porch, smoking his favorite cigar, drinking bourbon and listening to Jimmy Buffet music. Peter was a huge dog lover, especially of Dobermans. He will be greatly missed by his own two dogs, Noble and Caramia. A loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, Peter’s greatest joy was the time he spent with his family.
In addition to his wife, Peter is survived by his children, Kelly Hays, Anthony Basile (Raena), Cher Paolini (Joey), Attorney Joshua Gray (Valerie), Dr. Benjamin Gray and Bobby Black who was a special friend that he thought of as a son, his sister, Susan Wszolek, his mother-in-law, Connie Flamino, eleven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren, Ivee, Harlan and Tydus.
In addition to his parents, Peter was preceded in death by his father-in-law, Chester Flamino.
Visitation will be on Thursday 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the Ed & Don DeCarbo Funeral Home & Crematory, 3000 Wilmington Road. A Blessing Service will be held at the funeral home on Thursday at 4:00 p.m. Deacon John Carran of Holy Spirit Parish will officiate. The New Castle Area Honor Guard will perform full Military Rites at the funeral home on Thursday.
Eternal rest grant unto Peter, O Lord. Let perpetual light shine upon him. May his soul, and the souls of all the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace. Amen.
