Peggy J. Cavelli, 89, of New Castle passed away the morning of September 5, 2022 at UPMC Jameson. Born in New Castle on October 27, 1932, Peggy was the daughter of the late Walter and Margaret Bowden Snyder. Peggy married her beloved husband, Frank F. Cavelli on May 22, 1951. He preceded her in death on August 18, 2022.
Peggy was a member of Holy Spirit Parish, St. Vitus site and in the early years had helped in the cafeteria at St. Vitus School.
She loved collecting angels. Peggy enjoyed cooking and baking, especially pizzelles and pizza. A loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great grandmother, Peggy’s greatest joy was the time she spent with her family.
Peggy is survived by her children, Frank Cavelli, Jr. (Barbara), Kathleen Procopio (Richard) and Mary Jane Fraser (John) all of New Castle, ten grandchildren, twenty-one great-grandchildren and eleven great-great grandchildren.
In addition to her parents and husband, Peggy was preceded in death by her son, Edward Cavelli, her daughter, Debra Cavelli, three sisters, Julia Snyder, Joan Snyder and Loraine Bucci and her grandson, David Cavelli.
Visitation will be on Thursday 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at the Ed & Don DeCarbo Funeral Home & Crematory, 941 S. Mill St. A Blessing Service will be held at the funeral home on Thursday at 6:00 p.m. Seminarian Dan Roberts and Sister Annie Bremmer of Holy Spirit Parish will officiate. Burial will be in St. Vitus Cemetery.
Eternal rest grant unto Peggy, O Lord. Let perpetual light shine upon her. May her soul, and the souls of all the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace. Amen.
