Paula J. Bonfield, 72, of New Castle passed away the evening of June 15, 2023. Paula was born on May 12, 1951 in Pittsburgh, PA, a daughter of the late Edward Himchak and Sophia Himchak who survives at home.
Paula was a 1969 graduate of Butler High School. She continued her education at the former St. Francis School of Nursing, graduating in 1972 as a Registered Nurse. She worked at St. Francis Hospital in the Pediatrics Department. She then continued running the Pediatric Clinic and concluded her career working in the private practice of Dr. Sommerfeld.
Paula enjoyed working outside with her roses and coloring. She was always happy and enjoyed life. A loving mother and sister, Paula’s greatest joy was being around family and friends, especially her granddaughter who was Paula’s pride and joy and would do anything to make her happy.
In addition to her mother, Paula is survived by her daughter, Erin Bonfield; her brother, Michael Himchak (Marsha); her sister, Karen Fair (Ed); and her beloved granddaughter, Samantha Bonfield.
She was preceded in death by her father, Edward Himchak.
Family will receive friends on Wednesday 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at the Ed & Don DeCarbo Funeral Home & Crematory, 941 S. Mill St. A Memorial Service will follow at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home officiated by Rev. Father Aaron Kriss of Holy Spirit Parish.
Eternal rest grant unto Paula, O Lord. Let perpetual light shine upon her. May her soul, and the souls of all the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace. Amen.
