On this first Sunday of Advent, we begin the new liturgical year. May it be a time when we all renew our faith in Christ and recognize His divine presence in these beautiful sacraments we are privileged to celebrate and in our brothers and sisters in Christ.
The miracle of Christmas is not just Jesus the Son of God taking on human flesh, but Jesus also being willing to dwell inside each of us. This indwelling of Christ is made manifest when you and I live in harmony with Him and do his work. My sincere thanks to all of you for living out your faith in Christ by your service to one another in this community.
Today, I am sharing part of my bulletin space with Sr. Annie because she was so touched by the outpouring of your love and support for her and her family at the passing of her dad, Robert Bremmer. The
following is Sister’s message to all of you.
I cannot say thank you enough to my Holy Spirit Parish family for so graciously welcoming my family and friends to celebrate the life of my father, Bob Bremmer. You have all been so supportive and loving as well as surrounding me and my family with prayers. I feel the strength and goodness of all of you. May God richly reward you for your goodness. –Sr. Annie
On Monday, December 9, Sr. Annie will present an Advent reflection on St. Francis and the Christ Child in St. Vincent de Paul Church from 7 to 8:30 p.m. See complete details on page 12.
You will notice a Christmas card in the mail this month that also provides the important times and dates for our Advent and Christmas celebrations.
INNER PEACE If you can start the day without caffeine,
If you can always be cheerful, ignoring aches and pains,
If you can resist complaining and boring people with your troubles,
If you can eat the same food every day and be grateful for it,
If you can understand when your loved ones are too busy to give you any time,
If you can take criticism and blame without resentment ,
If you can conquer tension without medical help,
If you can relax without liquor,
If you can sleep without the aid of drugs,
…then you are probably ………
The family dog--or the parish mascot.
God love you,
