On this weekend, we conclude the month of September and we begin the beautiful month of October. This holy month offers many of my favorite Feast Days. Of course, it is the month dedicated to the respect of human life from
conception to natural death.
It is appropriate that during the month of October, we should celebrate the Feasts of Thérèse of Lisieux; our Holy Guardian Angels; St. Faustina; St. Francis of Assisi; Our Lady of the Holy Rosary; Pope St. John Paul II; St. Luke the Evangelist; St. John de Brebeuf, St. Isaac Jogues and Companions who died martyrs in New York in the mid 1600s; St. Paul of the Cross; St. John of Capistrano; and the Apostles Simon and Jude! All of these profound and unique examples of courageous discipleship can encourage all of us to persevere in our own quest to be holy and faithful disciples of Jesus Christ!
May our Guardian Angels protect and guide us in our own time and place to do our part in living and sharing our faith in Jesus Christ.
A huge thank you to everyone who worked so hard to make our closing Masses of Thanksgiving so beautiful. We truly do have saints in our midst! Oftentimes we fail to recognize Jesus present in one another. But, during these days as we witness the tremendous sacrifice of our fellow parishioners, we can’t help but be inspired by their continued faith and perseverance.
God always brings good out of the crosses we bear. Let us do our part to not only embrace our own cross for Christ but also offer
assistance to our neighbor. We are all called to be Saints in our own time. This is our time! This is our amazing opportunity! Let us seize the day!
On Sunday, October 15th, in honor of the Blessed Mother, we will have a Rosary March. After the 9:00 am Mass in St. Vitus Church, we will walk from St. Vitus Church to the Parish Center, across the street from St. Mary Church. At the Parish Center, you can visit the Eucharistic Miracles of the World Exhibit—hours are 10:00 am till 4:00 pm. Next door, the Adoration Chapel will host an Open House from 11:00 am till 3:00 pm. All are welcome!
