Michael Orlando, 71, of 1429 Johnson St., New Castle, passed away the afternoon of Sept. 17, 2022, at UPMC Jameson Hospital. Michael was born on Oct. 22, 1951, in New Castle. He was the son of the late Steve and Josephine (Konstal) Orlando. Michael married the former Helen Stackiewicz on October 18, 1973 and they were married for 49 years.
Michael was a graduate of New Castle High School, class of 1969. Of the Roman Catholic faith, he was a member of Holy Spirit Parish. Mr. Orlando worked for several local companies in maintenance, among those being the former W. R. Grace, the former St. Francis Hospital and the Nugent Group nursing home from which he retired. He was an all-around Mr. Fix-It and enjoyed tinkering with everything. He was a member of the former CG's Club and enjoyed watching television and all Pittsburgh sports teams. Michael also loved animals and always had a good night snack ready for his pets. The family would greatly appreciate that the next time you have a drink, think of him and please raise one up in his honor.
His greatest joy in life was spending time with his wife, sons and his granddaughter.
In addition to his wife, Helen, Michael is survived by his two sons, Tony Orlando and his girlfriend, Brittany Fair, and Mike Orlando, both of New Castle; two sisters, Cookie (Edward) Allen of New Castle and Marie Elias of Laguna Niguel California; his granddaughter, Haleigh Orlando of New Castle; his brother-in-law, Dan Dandreano of Gambrills, Maryland; his sister-in-law Lucy Stackiewicz of Baltimore, Maryland; his goddaughter, Melissa Brenner of Charlotte, North Carolina; several nieces and nephews; his cat, Gypsy, and dog, Sebastian.
Mr. Orlando was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Joseph and Anthony Orlando; and his sister, Betty Dandreano.
Following Michael's wishes, a private family service officiated by Deacon John Carran of Holy Spirit Parish will be held later this week. Local arrangements have been entrusted to the Noga Funeral Home Inc., 1142 Mill St., New Castle.
Eternal rest grant unto Michael, O Lord. Let perpetual light shine upon him. May his soul, and the souls of all the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace. Amen.
