Mary V. Papa, 93, formerly of Ruth St., Shenango Township passed away on March 7, 2020 at Assumption Village in North Lima, Ohio.vBorn on May 30, 1926 in New Castle, she was the daughter of the late Ralph A. and Virginia Marcella Occhibone. On August 4, 1951, she married the love of her life, Peter James Papa. He preceded her in death on October 10, 1981.
Mary had worked her entire life, most recently as a sales clerk at the Temple Shop and later at the Lady in Waiting Shop. She was a member of Holy Spirit Parish, St. Joseph the Worker site.
Mary had been a member of the Widows Group of the Church and The Mary Martha Guild at the church. Her faith was very important to her. She loved to dance. Mary enjoyed sharing stories with everyone and left her family and friends with wonderful memories. Her greatest joy was the time she spent with her family.
Mary is survived by her two daughters, Jeanne Papa-Mussler-Cook of Beaver Falls, Pamela J. Gargasz and her husband, Randy, of Poland, Ohio, three grandchildren, Lori Mussler-Turos and her husband, Steve, of Noblesville, Indiana, Kimberlee Gargasz-Tovtin and her husband, Brad, of Poland Ohio, Kevin Gargasz of Chicago Ill., four great-grandchildren, Addy Turos, Evan Turos, Braden Tovtin, and Logan Tovtin.
In addition to her parents and husband, Mary was preceded in death by her grandson, James S. Mussler, three brothers, Ralph, Nick and Lawrence Occhibone, one sister, Anna DeCaria and two sons-in law, David P. Mussler and Donald E. Cook.
Visitation will be on Thursday 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at the Ed & Don DeCarbo Funeral Home & Crematory, 941 South Mill St. A procession will leave the funeral home on Friday at 9:30 a.m. for a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. at Holy Spirit Parish, St. Joseph the Worker Church. Father Anthony Sciarappa will officiate. Burial will be in St. Vitus Cemetery.
