Mary Jane Ippolito, 94, of New Castle passed away the evening of March 22, 2022, at her residence. Mary Jane was born on Sept. 1, 1927, in New Castle, the daughter of the late John and Rose (Menchino) Sbarro. She was married to the late Raymond J. Ippolito Sr., who preceded her in death on Feb. 20, 1996. They were married for 50 years.
Mary Jane was of the Roman Catholic faith and attended Holy Spirit Parish. Mrs. Ippolito was a graduate of New Castle High School, class of 1945. Mary Jane was known for her kind and loving heart; she put everyone's needs before her own. She was very active in her church as a member of the Altar and Rosary Society at St. Monica's in Wampum. Mary Jane was also a Girl Scout leader in Wampum, and she worked with Jameson Hospital with recording flu vaccines. Her greatest joy was spending time with her family and friends, especially all her grandchildren. Above all else, Mrs. Ippolito will be remembered by her family as a loving sister, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great-grandmother.
Mary Jane is survived by two daughters, Beverly Capezio of New Castle and Cynthia (James) Thomas of Boardman, Ohio; two sisters, Rose Otlowski of New Castle and Audrey Stockmaster of Cleveland, Ohio; six grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents and husband, Raymond, Mary Jane was preceded in death by her two sons, John Ippolito and Raymond Ippolito Jr.
A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, March 30, 2022, at Holy Spirit Parish--St Mary Church. Rev. Benjamin Barr will officiate. Burial will be in St. Lucy Cemetery.
Eternal rest grant unto Mary Jane, O Lord. Let perpetual light shine upon her. May her soul, and the souls of all the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace. Amen.
