Mary A. Bevan, 97, formerly of Kerr Street, New Castle, passed away the morning of March 11, 2021, at Golden Heights Personal Care Home, Irwin, Pennsylvania. Mary was born Feb. 14, 1924, in New Castle, Pennsylvania. She was the daughter of the late Piotr "Peter" and Aniela "Nellie" (Szymd) Dudek. She married the late William T. Bevan. He preceded her in death on Dec. 7, 1989. They were married for 43 years.
Mrs. Bevan was Roman Catholic and attended Holy Spirit Parish, Mary, Mother of Hope site. She was a graduate of New Castle High School, class of 1942. She also worked outside the home at the former Shenango Pottery Company as a finisher and glazer.
Mary's family was the most important thing in her life. She enjoyed taking care of her children and loved to cook for them. Mrs. Bevan will be remembered by her family as a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother to her family.
Mary is survived by three children, sons William (Frances) Bevan of North Huntingdon, Pennsylvania, and Thomas Bevan of New Castle, and daughter Barbara (Robert) Lockey of Morrisdale, Pennsylvania; five grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents and husband, William, Mary was preceded in death by 10 brothers and sisters.
Private visitation will be held on Monday for immediate family only at the Noga Funeral Home Inc., 1142 S. Mill St. A blessing service will immediately follow visitation in the funeral home. The Rev. Brendan Dawson, parochial vicar of Holy Spirit Parish, will officiate. Burial will be in Castleview Cemetery.
