Thank you again to everyone who made our first Holy Spirit Mardi Gras celebration an enormous success!
As you can see from the photographs, we had a sell-out crowd from the entire area. Thank you to the Mardi Gras Celebration Committee, our building and grounds staff, the dedicated parishioners who served the parish in innumerable ways and our Ambassadors of Hospitality: the largest number of youth ever at a Mardi Gras, those who manned the ticket tables, raffles, auction, the amazing appetizer tables and buffet showing that our parish is truly one.
This Lent we are reminded of the battle we all face with evil. Adam and Eve, our first parents, suffered from that battle. Jesus came to save us and took on the evil one. He did not protect himself from entering into our human frailty and suffering. But it was through His martyrdom and pain that we are saved and strengthened to win our own battle with the devil.
As a community of Catholic Christians joined with brothers and sisters of every race and tongue around the world, we embark on this Lenten journey to faith in Christ and rid our hearts and lives of sin.
To help us all on our Lenten journey, we have a number of opportunities in our parish. There is the LENTEN SERIES 2020: Vatican II and Our Call to Holiness presented by Harry J. Dudley, D. Min. at St. Joseph the Worker site—Social Hall (Lower Level) on Tuesday mornings: 9:30 am to 11:00 am on March 3, 10, 24, 31 and also on Wednesday evenings: 6:30 pm to 8:00 pm on March 4, 11, 25, April 1. See bulletin page 11 for Penance Services and Stations of the Cross, and page 4 for Reconciliation, Adoration and Rosary information. The parish has also made available copies of Bishop Robert Barrons’s Lenten Gospel Reflections. If you have not gotten a copy, stop by the parish office at St. Vitus while they are still available.
NOTE: Don’t forget that next Sunday marks the beginning of daylight saving time when we advance our clocks forward one hour.
