Mafalda "Muffie" Palumbo Bucci, passed away on July 6, 2021 after a brief illness. She was born January 20, 1927, in New Castle, Pennsylvania, to the late Alexander and Anna Palladini Palumbo. She married Michael Domenick Bucci on February 21, 1946. He preceded her in death on January 26, 2006.
Muffie was a lifelong resident of New Castle and lived happily for nearly sixty years in the home she and her husband built together. Her neighbors on Gale Street became lifelong friends. She was a member of St. Joseph the Worker Church and helped her husband open the church every Sunday morning for many years. Muffie was a devoted homemaker and enjoyed cleaning and decorating her home. She loved entertaining and looked forward to having all of her friends and family with her for holidays and special occasions. Muffie loved reading and doing word puzzles of all kinds. She was enormously proud of the accomplishments of her grandchildren and great grandchildren and always looked forward to visiting with them when they were in town.
Muffie is survived by her brother Conrad (Edith) Palumbo of New Castle; her four children, Mary Lynn Bucci Pape and Michelle Bucci Lagnese of New Castle, Maureen Bucci Turnbull (David) of Henderson, Nevada, and Michael Louis Bucci (Victoria) of Perryopolis; eleven grandchildren, Aaron, Chad, Rachel and Sammy Bucci, Steve Smith, Richard Ginocchi, John and Alexandra Lagnese, Lindsay Chessher, Erin (Ross) Cowan, and Megan (Michael) Juhline, and six great grandchildren, Kira, Kelcie, Caroline, Shane, Jesse and Eden.
In addition to her to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by eight siblings; Lucie Cubbal, Albert Palumbo, Joseph Palumbo, Dante Palumbo, Albert "Bert" Palumbo, Arlen Palumbo, Arnold Palumbo and Frank Palumbo, and two sons-in-law, Edward Pape and John Lagnese.
Visitation will be on Friday 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Ed & Don DeCarbo Funeral Home & Crematory, 941 South Mill St. A procession will leave the funeral home on Saturday at 9:30 a.m. for a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. at Holy Spirit Parish, St. Vitus Site. Father Brendan Dawson will officiate. Burial will be in Parkside Cemetery.
