Madeline Fiorante, 91, formerly of Cherry St., passed away the morning of September 6, 2022. Born in New Castle on March 20, 1931, Madeline was the daughter of the late Andrew and Frances Mingione Russo. Preceding her in death on March 6, 2014 was her husband of over sixty-four years, Saverio (Sam) Fiorante, whom she married on June 25, 1949.
Madeline was a member of Holy Spirit Parish, St. Vincent DePaul site. In her earlier years, Madeline worked at Healthmart and Treasure Island Dept. Store. She was a member of the Eagles Auxiliary. Madeline was known for being a great cook and baker and baked for all the family weddings. Madeline loved the holidays with her family. She was an avid reader and enjoyed watching old movies and knew the background information of all the old-time movie stars. She also spent her time crocheting beautiful Afghans. Madeline was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother who cherished all the times spent with her family. She will be sadly missed by all who knew her.
She is survived by her children, Margaret Frigone and her husband, Sam, of New Castle; Mary Jane Mangino and her husband, Mark (Bear), of Naples, FL; Sam Fiorante and his wife, Connie, of Hopewell, PA; her daughter in law, Linda Fiorante, of State College, PA; ten grandchildren and eighteen great grandchildren.
In addition to her parents and husband, Madeline is preceded in death by her son, Andrew (Chuck) Fiorante and her sisters, Marie Rivezzi, Jean Lombardo, and Anita Swogger.
Visitation is Thursday from 11:00 am to 12:30 pm at the Ed and Don DeCarbo Funeral Home and Crematory 941 S. Mill St. A procession will leave the funeral home on Thursday at 12:30 pm for St. Vitus Church where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 1:00 pm conducted by Father Benjamin Barr of Holy Spirit Parish. Burial will take place at St. Lucy Cemetery.
Eternal rest grant unto Madeline, O Lord. Let perpetual light shine upon her. May her soul, and the souls of all the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace. Amen.
