Louis R. Bongivengo, 79, of New Castle, passed away the morning of March 16, 2021 at The Grove in New Wilmington. Born on July 10, 1941 in New Castle, he was the son of the late Louis and Helen DiThomas Bongivengo. Lou is survived by his beloved wife, the former Kathleen Sfreddo whom he married on January 22, 1973.
Lou retired as an electrician for the City of New Castle. He was a member of Holy Spirit Parish, St. Vitus Site. Lou had proudly served his country as a member of the United States Air Force. Lou enjoyed the outdoors, hunting, fishing and working in his garden. He was an avid sports fan. A loving husband, father and grandfather, Lou’s greatest joy was the time he spent with his family.
In addition to his wife, Lou is survived by his children, Tracey Bongivengo and Helena Jones, his sister Felicia Bongivengo Lombardo and six grandchildren, Devin Bongivengo, Nikko Bongivengo, Isaiah Jones, Ramel Jones, Amarra Jones, and Amiiah Jones.
In addition to his parents, Lou was preceded in death by two infant sisters.
A Private Blessing Service will be held at the Ed & Don DeCarbo Funeral Home & Crematory, 941 South Mill St. Father Brendan Dawson of Holy Spirit Parish will officiate. Burial will be in St. Vitus Cemetery
.Lord God, you are attentive to the voice of our pleading. Give Louis eternal rest, O Lord, and may your light shine on him forever. Let us find in your Son comfort in our sadness, certainty in our doubt, and courage to live through this hour. Make our faith strong through Christ our Lord. Amen.
