Lorenza Garcia, 87, of 413 E. Reynolds St., passed away the evening of May 17, 2022, at her residence, with her family by her side. Lorenza was born on Aug. 10, 1934, in the Dominican Republic. She was the daughter of the late Lonte Garcia and Ana Maria Hilario.
Lorenza was a devout Roman Catholic. She was a self-employed business owner, running a restaurant where she loved making authentic Dominican dishes. Lorenza was a woman of strong faith and attended Mass regularly. She enjoyed reading the Bible, listening to music, preparing meals for her family and traveling. Her greatest joy was spending time with her family and friends, especially all her grandchildren.
Lorenza is survived by her five children, Delsy Marte Escarraman of Orlando, Florida; Digna Marte of McDonough, Georgia; Gisela Paula of New Castle; Arturo Marte of New Bedford, Massachusetts; and Eva Rivera of Youngstown, Ohio; two brothers, Virgilio Garcia and Ramon Garcia, both of Jersey City, New Jersey; a sister, Eudocia Garcia of West New York, New Jersey; many grandchildren; and many great-grandchildren with a few on the way.
In addition to her parents, Lorenza was preceded in death by four sons, Noel Marte, Rafael A. Marte, Ceasar Marte, Rafael Marte; and infant son, Adam Marte.
Visitation will be held from 3:00 to 6:00 p.m. Sunday, May 22, 2022, at the Noga Funeral Home, 1142 Mill St., New Castle. A blessing service will be celebrated immediately following visitation at the funeral home. Rev. Brendan Dawson, parochial vicar of Holy Spirit Parish, will officiate. Burial will be in St. Vitus Cemetery.
Eternal rest grant unto Lorenza, O Lord. Let perpetual light shine upon her. May her soul, and the souls of all the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace. Amen.
