Leo Francis Golba, 89, passed away the evening of November 3, 2021. He was born January 8, 1932, to Frank and Helen Golba in New Castle, PA.
Leo grew up attending New Castle High School. He was a member of Madonna Church, then later at Holy Spirit Parish, St. Vincent DePaul site. He served in the US Army during the Korean War before returning to New Castle to build his life with his wife, Carole Richards.
Leo was affectionately known as “Vuv'' by his children, “Papa Vuv” by his grandchildren, and “Papa Luv” by his great-grandchildren. He will be remembered by the family he has built as “the hands and feet of Jesus Christ”. Along with his selfless heart, Leo was known for his love of baseball, basketball, and golf. Leo was also an active member of both the Polish Falcons Club and Casimir Pulaski Club; his kin imagine he is Polka dancing in heaven.
Those left to cherish his memory include son, Leo F. Golba Jr. and his wife, Nicki, of Naples; daughter, Debbie Golba, of New Castle; brother, Frank J. Golba Jr., of New Castle; longtime partner, Nellie Campi, of New Castle; as well as his 6 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren.
Along with parents, Frank J. Golba Sr. and Helen Golba, Leo has reunited with wife, Carole Richards and brother, Marion Golba, in heaven.
Viewing will be held from 10:00 – 11:30 a.m. Monday, November 8th at the R. Cunningham Funeral Home, 2429 Wilmington Road, followed by a 12:00 Mass of Christian Burial celebrated by Fr. Brendan Dawson at Holy Spirit Parish, St Camillus Church.
