Kathryn B. Mendel, 95, of Neshannock Township went to be with the Lord the morning of June 21, 2022. She was born March 26, 1927 in New Castle, PA the daughter of the late Esa and Mary George Gabriel. Kathryn was married to the late Joseph Mendel.
Kathryn was a long time member of St. Phillip and James Church and a more recent member of Holy Spirit Parish, St. Camillus site. She enjoyed spending time with her four children and nine grandchildren, watching her Steelers, Pirates and Penguins, watching the Hallmark Channel, trying her luck at the casino and drinking her ice-cold Coke. Kathy lived a full and happy life and will be missed by many.
Kathryn is survived by her four children, Janet Clark (LeRoy) of New Castle, Joe Mendel (Tracy) of Chippewa, Debbie Mendel (Ed McGlumphy) of Columbus, OH and George Mendel (Maureen) of New Castle, one brother, John Gabriel, her sister, Dolores Bjelland, nine grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday at 9:00 a.m. at Holy Spirit Parish, St. Camillus Church. Father Tom Lewandowski will officiate. Visitation will be on Saturday 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at the Ed & Don DeCarbo Funeral Home & Crematory, 3000 Wilmington Road. Burial will be in SS Phillip and James Cemetery.
Eternal rest grant unto Kathryn, O Lord. Let perpetual light shine upon her. May her soul, and the souls of all the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace. Amen.
