Kathleen ‘Cookie’ Cook, 75, of West Pittsburg Road died Sunday, June 18, 2023 at UPMC Jameson Hospital in New Castle. She was born on June 17, 1948, in New Castle, a daughter of the late John and Rose (DelRosso) Vanasky. Mrs. Cook married Anthony R. Cook on July 13, 1968, he survives in New Castle.
Mrs. Cook was a member of Holy Spirit Parish, St. Camillus site. She worked as a secretary for The Crane Co. for 15 years, then AX Heat Transfer for 10 years, and Dr. Mitlo for a number of years. She enjoyed dancing, the TV show, I Love Lucy, and above all loved spending time with her grandsons.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by one daughter, Wendy Leitera and her husband, Michael, of New Castle; three grandsons, Michael A. Leitera, Gennaro T. Leitera, and Lucian J. Leitera; one sister, Donna Roth of New Castle; and her best friend, Lorraine Herman Stabryla.
In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by daughter, Robin R. Cook, and two sisters, Rosemary ‘Roey’ Mallard and Aileen Vanasky.
Visitation will be held Friday, June 23, 2023 from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm at the William F. & Roger M. DeCarbo Funeral Home, 926 Cunningham Avenue. A Blessing Service will be celebrated Friday, June 23, 2023 at 4:00 pm in the William F. DeCarbo Memorial Chapel. Father Aaron Kriss of Holy Spirit Parish will officiate.
Eternal rest grant unto Kathleen, O Lord. Let perpetual light shine upon her. May her soul, and the souls of all the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace. Amen.
