On this glorious weekend, we celebrate the Feast of St. Anthony of Padua at our own St. Anthony of Padua Church in Bessemer. St. Anthony was a disciple of St. Francis who sought to serve Christ and see Christ in the poor and all in need. I am very proud of the people of St. Anthony’s and the entire parish of Holy Spirit who have, in the spirit of St. Anthony, graciously allowed Bethel Evangelical Presbyterian Church the use of St. Anthony Church for worship due to their own church being under construction. This is a beautiful example of Christian Catholics and non-Catholic Christians working together and sacrificing for each other.
Congratulations, also, to our holy Deacon John Carran, who is celebrating his 10-year anniversary as a permanent deacon. Congratulations to him and his lovely wife, Robin, and their two sons, Jonathon and Matthew. We are extremely blessed and I am especially appreciative of Deacon John’s service to our parish as our business and maintenance manager.
Next weekend on Saturday, June 19th, Fr. Anthony will celebrate one of his final liturgies with us, at the 4:00 Mass at St. Camillus. Following Mass, there will be a reception to let Fr. Anthony know how much we appreciate his time with us and to wish him well in his new assignment. Fr. Anthony’s new contact information will be: St. Michael the Archangel, 311 Washington Road, Pittsburgh PA 15216, phone: 412-561-3300.
With the conclusion of the Sears parking lot Mass, again I remind you that anyone who is unable to be around people due to compromised health issues, we recommend they contact the parish office. We can bring communion to you in your home and also you may pray with the Mass by logging onto our website, HSPLC.ORG or viewing the Mass on YouTube. Our trained Eucharistic Ministers have Protecting God’s Children clearances and are also fully vaccinated.
If you would like to participate in this holy ministry of bringing our Lord to those who cannot be present for Mass, contact Sr. Annie Bremmer at 724-652-3422 Ext. 2205.
