Congratulations to Father Tom Sparacino, who is a son of Holy Spirit Parish, having grown up in West Pittsburg. I have invited Father Tom back to Holy Spirit to celebrate his 25th anniversary as a priest. Father Tom will be the celebrant for Mass on August 5th at St. Vitus at 4:00PM. Following the Mass, our Women of Faith are hosting a reception in Fabbri Hall. Please come and congratulate Father Tom and share a little cake with him. If you are unable to attend his celebration, you may wish to send him a card at:
Saint Paul Seminary; 2900 Noblestown Rd.; Pittsburgh PA 15222.
Please see Father Tom’s letter in Parish Voices on Page 14 of this bulletin.
After much study and consultation, and with the support of our Finance and Pastoral Councils, I will be officially requesting Bishop Zubik to relegate the church buildings of St. Anthony, St. James the Apostle, St. Joseph the Worker and St. Vincent de Paul.
Please continue to pray that the Holy Spirit will lead and guide all of us as we strive each day to serve God and Neighbor in this territory of Holy Spirit Parish.
On August 13th at 2:30 in the afternoon, Bishop Zubik will celebrate a special Mass honoring the recipients of the Manifesting the Kingdom Award from every institution and parish in the diocese. We at Holy Spirit Parish are blessed to have eight people representing our parish. Congratulations to Mike Marshall, Jerry Benedict, John Provencher, Randy Wise, Susan Kearns, Terry Blesch, Karen Baum and Karen Ionta.
These very special members of Holy Spirit Parish represent, in some way, all of you who volunteer your time, talent, and treasure to our parish in a whole variety of ways! In an upcoming bulletin and on our website, we will provide a little introduction, photos, and a brief biography of each of our awardees.
The list is long of those of you who certainly deserve recognition. It was a challenge to limit ourselves to these eight. But that being said, they truly are outstanding people devoted to Christ and devoted to this parish family. They certainly deserve our congratulations, respect, and thanks! So please join me in celebrating them, and all of you who serve in the name of Jesus Christ in such an exemplary way!
Saturday, July 29th was the Freedom Fair & Fireworks Festival in downtown New Castle. I hope you were able to visit the Holy Spirit table there. We are building community within our parish and expanding out into the wider local community.
Thanks to Sister Annie, Melanie Widelko and their crew for putting this community activity together.
