Bishop David Zubik has granted Deacon Dan Kielar, at his request, a personal leave of absence, effective June 27, 2022 from his diaconal assignment to Holy Spirit Parish. While on leave, Deacon Dan will not be engaging in any form of liturgical or pastoral ministry. During this time, please keep him and Karen and their family in your prayers.
Thank you to everyone who organized and volunteered to make this past week’s Vacation Bible School a wonderful experience for our children and their parents! Finding ways to bring our children closer to Christ, and with them their parents, is a great joy for all involved! A special thank you to Kathy Gabriel, Krissy Chill and their crew of adults, teen volunteers, mentors, and Women of Faith, who provided all the snacks! A full list of those making up this great group is displayed on page 8 of today’s bulletin. Speaking of our children, this Saturday, July 2nd, is our golf outing supporting Friends of Catholic Education. The monies raised by this event and many other events throughout the year provide our families with children in Catholic schools much needed support for tuition and transportation. I am very grateful to Ed and Gina Sharbaugh for heading up another fabulous Golf Outing!
So far, over 500 parishioners have participated in the diocesan survey regarding the Feasibility Study. Thank you to all of you. The parish leadership team deeply appreciates your participation and feedback. If you and your family have not yet participated, you can do so by logging on to https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/HolySpiritFeasibilityStudyor scanning this QR code with your phone. The deadline to participate is July 8th. Even though the cost of gasoline is the highest in history and politics in the United States and around the world are very volatile, I pray that you and your family will find peace and comfort through your faith and trust in our Savior Jesus Christ. May you find an opportunity this summer to have some much-needed rest and relaxation, and above all, some quiet time for prayer and spiritual reading. In the Gospels, Jesus often went off by himself to pray, even spending the night in prayer. This is where our Savior derived his calm and strength. His example tells us that we definitely need to do the same.
May you all have a blessed Independence Day. May our true independence be from the evil one. Please note the parish offices will be closed on Monday, July 4th for the holiday.
Our next Parish Feast Day celebration will be for St. Camillus de Lellis at the regularly scheduled 4:00 pm Mass at St. Camillus Church on July 16th.
