The month of July is truly a month of anniversaries, celebrations and new beginnings. On July 1st we celebrate the anniversary of our parish being established as Holy Spirit Parish on July 1st of 2019. July 1st begins the new Fiscal Year. And this year it begins a new adventure for Deacon John Carran as director of the Office for Deacon Personnel and the Deacon Formation Program. Effective July 1st, Steven Empfield, our Parish Accountant, will become our new Parish
Business Manager. Please watch the bulletin and the website for a possible new position to assist the Business Manager when that job description is finalized, and we are ready to post
the position. George Liskooka, who is the Director of Building & Grounds for the Parish, will carry out some of Deacon John’s additional responsibilities.
Please also join me in welcoming the Sisters of Saint Francis from Tiffin, Ohio at all Masses this weekend. The Sisters will speak regarding their ministry as part of the Missionary Cooperative Program. The Sisters of St. Francis serve those who are poor, with a foreign mission in Mexico and a home mission in Appalachia. In remote areas of Mexico they work to build faith communities where there are no priests for regular Sunday Masses. The Sisters also give children living in extreme poverty the opportunity to obtain an education, plus meet emergency needs for food and medicine. The Appalachian ministries include faith development and pastoral care, adult literacy, and emergency outreach of food, clothing and shelter for the poor. Please help make a difference in the lives of people suffering from poverty with your prayers and financial support. On July 8th, the parish will host a Chicken ‘N Biscuit Take-Out Dinner. Chicken ‘N Biscuit is one of my favorite foods of all time, and I can’t wait to taste this delicious meal made right here in the foodie capital of the world! Our chefs are the very best! Pre-orders only: Call to order on Tuesday, July 5th. See Page 9 of the July 2nd bulletin for details.
