Josephine “Red” Dalesandro, 94, of New Castle, passed away the afternoon of April 20, 2021 at Quality of Life Services of New Castle. Born on April 21, 1926 in New Castle, she was the daughter of the late Louis and Mary Ditola Dalesandro.
Josephine had worked as a salesperson at Sliverman Shoes and then Miller’s Shoe Store. She was a devout Catholic and devoted member of Holy Spirit Parish, St. Vitus Site. Josephine was an avid Pittsburgh sports fan. She enjoyed playing cards, reading and visiting different religious shrines. Josephine loved the holidays and entertaining her family and friends in her home.
Josephine is survived by her sister, Rose Marie Sandullo of New Castle and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Josephine was preceded in death by one brother, Joseph Dalesandro, three sisters, Ann Cassella, Grace Dalesandro and Elizabeth Dalesandro, four nieces, Linda Leichtenberger, Janet Pearson, Tiffani DeJohn and Stacey Dalesandro.
Honoring her wishes the service is private. Burial is in Parkside Cemetery. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Ed & Don DeCarbo Funeral Home & Crematory, 941 South Mill St.
Lord God, you are attentive to the voice of our pleading. Give Josephine eternal rest, O Lord, and may your light shine on her forever. Let us find in your Son comfort in our sadness, certainty in our doubt, and courage to live through this hour. Make our faith strong through Christ our Lord. Amen.
