Joseph J. Anton, 73, of Union Township, passed away the morning of June 3, 2021 at his residence. Born on June 5, 1947 in New Castle, he was the son of the late Edwin J. and Katherine Paglia Anton. Joe is survived by his beloved wife, the former Connie Dierfield, whom he married in 1969.
Joe had worked as a mail carrier for the United States Postal Service until he retired after thirty-nine years. He had proudly served his country as a member of the United States Navy, during the Vietnam Era. Joe was an avid hunter and fisherman. He was a member of the Mahoning Valley Sportsman Club. A loving husband, father and grandfather, Joe’s greatest joy was the time he spent with his family.
In addition to his wife, Joe is survived by his two sons, Phillip Anton and his wife, Jennifer, of Campbell, OH and Michael Anton of New Castle, his brother, Edward Anton and his wife, Roberta, of West Middlesex, his sister, Barbara Bromley and her husband, Don, of New Castle and two grandchildren, Vincent and Joseph.
Visitation will be on Saturday 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at the Ed & Don DeCarbo Funeral Home & Crematory, 941 South Mill St. The New Castle Area Honor Guard will perform full Military Rites at the funeral home. A Blessing Service will be held at the funeral home on Saturday at 12:00 p.m. Father Joseph McCaffrey, Pastor of Holy Spirit Parish, will officiate. Burial will be in Madonna Cemetery.
Visitors are required to adhere to CDC guidelines regarding the wearing of face masks and practicing social distancing. Give Joe eternal rest, O Lord, and may your light shine on him forever. Let us find in your Son comfort in our sadness, certainty in our doubt, and courage to live through this hour. Make our faith strong through Christ our Lord. Amen.
