John Stoner, 83, passed away peacefully the afternoon of March 27, 2021 at Haven Convalescent Home surrounded by his loving family. Born on November 27, 1937 in New Castle he was the son of the late William Stoner, Sr. and Maria (Katie) Santomauro Stoner. He is survived by his beloved wife, the former Phyllis Joan Brown, who he married on April 26, 1958.
John had worked for Ro-Med Construction and Paving Company as an equipment operator. He retired as a Superintendent. He was a member of Operating Engineers Local 66.He was a member of Holy Spirit Parish, St. Vitus Site.John loved being in the outdoors, hunting, fishing, boating and going camping. A loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, John’s greatest joy was the time he spent with his family.
In addition to his wife, John is survived by his children, Scott Stoner (Anna), Jeffrey W. Stoner (Laura) and Todd A. Stoner (Maryan) all of New Castle, his sister, Maria Marcotullio of New Castle, eight grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death by five brothers, Anthony, Sr., Renold, Fred, Bill, Jr. and Victor Stoner and one sister Minnie Pisciuneri.
Private visitation will be held on Tuesday 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Ed & Don DeCarbo Funeral Home, 941 South Mill St. Visitors are required to adhere to CDC guidelines regarding the wearing of masks and practicing social distancing.
A procession will leave the funeral home on Wednesday, March 31, at 10:00 a.m. for a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m. at Holy Spirit Parish, St. Vitus Site. Father Anthony Sciarappa will officiate.
