John P. Toth 86, who lived at 148 McGuffey Blvd., New Castle, passed away the afternoon of Dec. 30, 2021, at UPMC Jameson Hospital. John was born on Dec. 8, 1935, in West Pittsburg, the eldest son of John Joseph and Mary (Yatsko) Toth. He was married to the former Pamela Bennet who survives at home. They were married for 58 years.
John was Roman Catholic faith and attended Immaculate Conception Parish in Washington, Pennsylvania, for more than 50 years before moving back to New Castle four years ago to be near family. John graduated from New Castle High School in 1953. Following graduation John attended Youngstown State University. Mr. Toth entered the United States Air Force on Sept. 14, 1954, in Pittsburgh.John earned the rank of A/1C on June 1, 1957. He received the Good Conduct Medal for his service. Mr. Toth was honorably discharged on June 13, 1958, from active duty and was released for the United States Air Force Reserves on Sept. 13, 1962.
A graduate of the Pennsylvania State Police Academy in Hershey, he served with Troop B in Greene County, Washington County, and on the Parkway West in Allegheny County. Upon leaving the State Police, he worked for North American Rockwell in New Castle. He then obtained his Pennsylvania Real Estate License, and eventually became an appraiser and real estate broker, working in Washington, Pennsylvania, for 30 years until his retirement. He was an avid reader, loved playing golf and enjoyed fishing. John adored his grandchildren and wanted to spend as much time as possible with them.
In addition to his wife, Pamela, John is survived by three daughters, Heidi T. (Dr. David) Rehak of Columbus, Georgia, Rebecca A. (Mark) Galmarini of New Castle and Tina A. Toth of New Castle; son, Robert P. Toth of Ft. Worth, Texas; brother, Robert S. Toth of Williamsburg, Virginia; two sisters, Dolores Allegro and Linda Phillips, both of West Pittsburg; and eight grandchildren, Alexander John Rehak, Christopher Ryan Rehak, Jacob Charles Rehak, Benjamin David Rehak, Stephen Aldo Galmarini, Michael Robert Galmarini, Rocco Angelo Galmarini and Maxwell Henry Toth.
Mr. Toth was preceded in death by his parents; and son, Stephen Henry Toth.
Private family services will be held on Wednesday morning at the Noga Funeral Home Inc., 1142 Mill St., New Castle. The New Castle Area Honor Guard will perform full Military Honors for Mr. Toth at the funeral home. A procession will then leave the funeral home on Wednesday morning for Holy Spirit Parish, St. Vitus site, where a Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated. Rev. Benjamin Barr of Holy Spirit Parish will officiate.
Eternal rest grant unto John, O Lord. Let perpetual light shine upon him. May his soul, and the souls of all the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace. Amen.
