John M. (Jeep) Falatko Jr., 95, of Jameson Care Center, formerly of West Pittsburg, passed away the evening of Jan. 18, 2023, at UPMC Jameson Hospital. John was born Sept. 24, 1927, in New Castle. He was the son of John M. Sr. and Anna (Toth) Falatko. He was married for 68 years to the late Joyce Pavkovich. She preceded him in death April 18, 2019. He was a graduate of New Castle High School, class of 1945. Following graduation, Mr. Falatko enlisted in the United States Army. He served his country during World War II and was part of the occupation force in France. John was honorably discharged in 1948. John was a lifetime member of the VFW Post 315 in New Castle. Mr. Falatko retired after 15 years of service as an operations supervisor with Penn Power Corporation. He was of the Roman Catholic faith and attended Holy Spirit Parish. Jeep was a very avid and accomplished golfer, with two holes-in-one to his credit, one at the former New Castle Country Club and the other at Seven Springs Golf Club in Florida. He enjoyed coaching baseball, especially when his two sons were young. John is survived by his sister, Helen Kessler of West Pittsburg; sister and brother-in-law, Marilyn and John Conwell of Clearwater, Florida; daughters-in-law, Robin Falatko of West Pittsburg and Judy Falatko of Fort Wayne, Indiana; eight grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and numerous loving nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents and wife, Joyce, John was preceded in death by his two sons, Michael J. and David J. Falatko; and his sister, Margaret Kos. Visitation will be from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 22, 2023, at the Noga Funeral Home, 1142 S. Mill St., New Castle. A procession will leave the funeral home at 10:00 a.m. Monday, Jan. 23, 2023, for Holy Spirit Parish, St. Vitus Church, where a Mass of Christian burial and Rite of Committal will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. The Rev. Aaron Kriss, Parochial Vicar of Holy Spirit Parish, will officiate. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery. Eternal rest grant unto John, O Lord. Let perpetual light shine upon him. May his soul, and the souls of all the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace. Amen.
