John A. Smialowski Jr., 76, of 357 McCombs Circle passed away the morning of March 3, 2020, at Good Samaritan Hospice, Beaver. John was born on May 17, 1943, in New Castle. He was a son of the late John A. and Elizabeth (Lacko) Smialowski Sr. John was married to the former Anna M. Bertone. They were married for 46 years. She preceded him in death on March 2, 2013.
Mr. Smialowski was Roman Catholic and attended Holy Spirit Parish. He was a graduate of Union High School, class of 1961. Mr. Smialowski served his country in the Army Reserves during the Vietnam War. John retired after 35 years of service as a loadmaster at C-Mex Cement in Wampum.
He was a loving husband and father, who never once put himself ahead of his family. John was an avid sports fan. He enjoyed watching Pittsburgh Steelers games with his son and buddies at the K.P. Club. John enjoyed going to University of Pittsburgh football games and tailgating with family and friends. John was an officer at the K.P. Club for 30 years. Mr. Smialowski also enjoyed going to numerous polka festivals and dances throughout the years. His greatest joy was spending time with his son, David.
John is survived by his son, David J. Smialowski of New Castle; and brother, Joseph (Claire) Smialowski of Ashtabula, Ohio.
In addition to his parents and wife, Anna, John was preceded in death by his son John A. Smialowski III.
Following in John's wishes there will be no calling hours. Arrangements were entrusted to Noga Funeral Home. A Memorial Mass and Rite of Committal will be held at 10 a.m. on Monday, March 9, 2020, at Holy Spirit Parish, St. Mary Church. The Rev. Brendan Dawson, parochial vicar of Holy Spirit Parish, will officiate.
Burial will be in Madonna Cemetery.
